What are you looking for in an air filter?
Of course, each and every filter offers first-rate quality and top performance. Is price most important? Or is it essential that the filter can handle a high airflow? Or that it has a specific structure or design? Maybe you’re looking for a filter that has a low pressure drop, so that it “consumes” less energy?
From a sustainability point of view, all Absolute filters are an excellent choice. They have all been developed to be energy efficient and to last for a long time. And when it is finally time to change the filter, it is fully recyclable (it can be either crushed or burnt). Absolute filters are available with wood, plastic or metal frames.

Absolute is trusted in the most demanding industries
Absolute is used wherever things absolutely cannot go wrong. Such as in industries manufacturing products like food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and microelectronics. In these highly sensitive processes, it is not difficult to imagine what would happen if unwelcome guests like airborne bacteria, spores, viruses or gases snuck in. Absolute is also a common feature in hospitals and nuclear power plants. Its job at nuclear power plants is to protect the outside environment from what’s going on inside. Different processes naturally require different levels of air purification. Your friendly representative at Camfil can help you analyze and specify your requirements.
Food & Beverage
With outdoor air carrying 200 to 1,500 bacteria per cubic metre, an air-conditioning system with a capacity of 10,000 m3/h can potentially take in 2 to 15 million bacteria each hour and seriously contaminate food & beverage production. Efficient air filtration is the solution. Protecting human health is a major concern for governments throughout the world and food production is one area that is strictly regulated to avoid all possible risks associated with potential contamination at production facilities.
Whenever public health is threatened by a serious danger, national agencies for food health and safety can recommend authorities to enforce the requisite health policy measures. Such measures may include the withdrawal and destruction of foodstuffs or even the temporary closure of all or part of the negligent company’s production plant.
To ensure the safety of foodstuffs, those in charge of establishments are required to:
- identify aspects of their business impacting food safety
- ensure that appropriate safety procedures are put in place, implemented, adhered to and updated, based on ADPCM/HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) principles. This management system addresses food safety through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.
To prevent the air conditioning system from becoming a microbe nest, temperature and humidity must be controlled and accumulated organic matter removed, as clogged exchangers provide good support for the development of microorganisms.
Camfil provides a full range of air filtration systems for the global food & beverage industry to combat microbiological contamination.
A few uncollected particles or gas molecules can have extremely serious consequences in some processes. Just imagine what harm contaminated air could do to the manufacture of semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and to other highly sensitive processes.
Advanced production methods often require very clean air and in many cases these requirements are certain to increase. For example, the electronics industry needs a very clean manufacturing environment for VLSI (Very Large Scale Integrated) circuit production. The pattern width on the circuits can be 1 micrometre or less. The need will be to control particle contamination down to1/10 of third dimension (0.1 micrometre).
The heart of the cleanroom is its filters, but there are a number of considerations regarding room classification, choice of filter, and how filters influence the environment.
Camfil is well positioned to recommend the best solution for advanced particle and AMC control thanks to more than 15 years’ experience in the field of microelectronics and semiconductor contamination control, and through our involvement in the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors.

For over 50 years, Absolute has offered protection from bacteria, spores, viruses and dangerous gases
Absolute was born and raised in the nuclear power industry. It’s hard to imagine a better school. It all began at the beginning of the 1960s. Nuclear power was on the rise and the new energy source demanded an entirely fresh approach to safety. Not least in terms of all-new requirements for filters. One little problem with an air filter in a nuclear power plant could lead to catastrophe. And someone who realized this was Camfil’s founder, Gösta Larsson. He helped develop the new filter, which set whole new standards when it came to safety and reliability. Since it was built without compromise, it was given the name Absolute. A name that continues to set the standard in the industry. Today, Absolute is used across the globe. But one thing will never change: our commitment to quality and safety.
It’s not only about clean air
In addition to safety and reliability, the economic aspect has a very central role when we’re developing Absolute. From a long-term perspective, energy consumption is the clearly dominant factor in the total cost of a filter. Energy accounts for 70 per cent of an air filter’s total life-cycle cost. For the past 40 years, Camfil has spearheaded the development of filters with low average pressure drop in all filter classes. And Absolute is certainly no exception. Absolute filters are optimized to ensure the lowest pressure drop possible at any given airflow.
The world leader in air filtration systems, Camfil provides clean air solutions for hospitals, hotels, office buildings, educational institutions, and pharmaceutical and biotech companies. We provide the tools to achieve sustainability, maintain high air quality -all while lowering total cost of ownership. Camfil customers reduce carbon emissions without ever sacrificing performance.
